have you ever heard the phrase/verse you can't trust your heart - the heart is deceitful ect. there was a time that this/these phrases alone shut me down. and by shut me down, i mean, i had so much that i wanted to do, hopes dreams ect. but that phrase ensured that i never would, at least in that season of my life. i clutched tightly to that phrase and watched as everyone around me was joyfully living life, meanwhile mine was passing me by and i was desperately trying to understand what the point of living even was if everything in my heart was 'so bad'- religion is a really ugly thing. thankfully i've been set free from that trap. a new heart gifted to us by the one who makes them beat isn't something to be afraid of, it is something to stand in total awe of - as i began creating again. writing again. i no longer felt afraid of sharing what was on my heart - of creating what was put there - my heart finally felt at rest. because my heart was fully His. and i could let go of all of the outcomes that come from what pours out of it - oh heart, rest is a 40 day women's devotional journal inviting your heart deeper into the rest offered to you - if you are tired of pouring over self-help books and all the like, if you are tired in general, i invite you to spend 40 days doing the opposite of trying harder - this is 40 days of going to Him - the one holding out a hand and inviting you in - 40 days of receiving from his presence - 40 days of intimacy with the Lord - 40 days of oh heart, rest i think something surely will be found there - in that rest. with love, ah Oh Heart, Rest (40 Day Devotional Journal)

Written by Ashley Hoffman Ashley is a gifted and rising contributor to the vast world of pages and ink. “The writing of many books is endless.” (Ecclesiastes 12:12) She doesn't reach us with degrees, awards, and profound accomplishments - instead she comes to us through authentic real-life experiences and the raw beauty of the climb. Ashley's rich poetic language aims to draw others to the simplicity of rest, quiet reflection, and engagement with the deep well of beauty that is found in nearness to the Lord. When she's not pouring into the creation of art and words, she can be found touching her wild childlike side - playing soccer, riding motorcycles, traveling, and more than likely holding blank pages and a pen --
