newness

many of us richly hinge on our own ability to bring about newness in the new year - it becomes rather easy to fall into this repetitive loop as the world markets and sells us this tradition year after year -

while some external change may be worked out by our own doing, it is plainly the work of the Holy Spirit that brings about authentic newness of life, and creates us into a new people -

Titus 3: 3-8 [It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. God’s gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s more life to come—an eternity of life! You can count on this.

this one contextual passage proclaims to our hearts that it is not entirely up to us - not only does the Lord create us into a new people, but he gives us new life, and not just new life, but an eternity of life.

do you see and understand the beauty of what he gifts to us?

he cleans us up and presents us back to the world, a spirit filled people, entirely new, entirely on a different path, a path that does not end - a perpetual cycle of new life -

is it any wonder that his heart longs to hand out heaven?

he doesn't market or sell it to us - he freely gifts it to us, we don't work for it, we walk in its completion - and not just for one year - but for all time -

as you step into another day, another new year, i hope your heart longs for more -

because your entire being deserve the newness of life that he wants you to have.
